This Saturday, 17 November, is World Prematurity Day. Around the globe each year 15 million babies are born too soon, sadly around 1 million of these babies will not survive.

In 2008 the idea came about to raise awareness of the serious issues that these babies and their families face, and since then the day has gained more and more support and each year has gone from strength to strength.

As supporters of Bliss - the UK charity working to provide the best possible care and support for all premature and sick babies and their families, we are keen to add our voice to this cause and help raise awareness of the serious problems they face.

Bliss has produced a video detailing real life stories to bring hope to families of premature babies all around the world. They hope that by sharing this video we can spread hope to the many families whose baby has been born prematurely.

The video features sports journalist and broadcaster Amanda Davies who is keen to help raise awareness of World Prematurity Day after experiencing complications during the birth of her daughter Molly, at 31 weeks. After birth, weighing 3lbs 10ozs, Molly was whisked away into intensive care to be monitored on the neonatal unit. Amanda herself ended up in the high dependency unit for a blood transfusion after haemorrhaging. Three years later, Molly is a healthy, happy little girl.

Watch and share the Bliss video and help us to raise awareness.
