At iCandy we are truly passionate about what we do - we continue to strive to create the perfect stroller; to strike the optimum balance between style and practicality; to create products that are safe, user-friendly, luxurious and which parents are proud to be seen with. There is no better example of this approach than our new iCandy Apple 2 Pear, which is the latest milestone in our ongoing success story for British design.

The new collection has its roots in years of research work undertaken by the iCandy team in the build-up to the 2007 launch of the original Apple Pear collection. This was the first ever modular pushchair system that allowed parents to convert a one-seater into a two-seater and vice versa, all within the footprint of a single stroller.

All good design should seek to solve a genuine problem, and the one our customers had identified was the challenge faced by parents of transporting young children as their families grew. Of course, large double pushchairs existed before 2007 and there were even some doubles that could be converted into singles, but they still had the large footprint and unwieldiness of the bigger models.

Years of research and design work discovered a solution to that problem. The iCandy Apple Pear collection allowed parents to transform their single pushchair into a double as their families expanded, and then switch it back again as their children grew up, while ensuring the stroller remained light and manoeuvrable enough for easy use.

In the years since then, and driven by the huge popularity of the idea at home in the UK and in a growing number of export markets, we further developed and refined our innovation. The next major step was the launch of what we and many tens of thousands of delighted families around the world believe to be the world’s most innovative, functional and beautiful collection, the acclaimed iCandy Peach and Peach Blossom.

Never satisfied, our design and development team has now completed work on the iCandy Apple 2 Pear, which has taken into account customer feedback and moved us a step closer towards our goal of creating the perfect single to double stroller. It is 40% lighter than the original Apple and has some great practical features, including a larger shopping basket and the ability to fold without removing the seat unit. Features that really make a difference to ease of use for our customers.

As with all our products, the new collection will be sold through our network of independent retailers and high-end department stores. They ensure parents enjoy an experience that it is not possible for online retailers to replicate, with full demonstrations and exceptional levels of customer service.

The release of the iCandy Apple 2 Pear collection comes as we enjoy our family business’s 80th birthday celebrations, an occasion that was marked by John Lewis with special ‘British Design Made Peachy… Celebrating 80 years of British Design’ iCandy window displays.
